About Us

 Application process for the 2019 - 2020 school year will begin soon. Applicatioins will be handed out during our interest meeting (September 30, 2019). If you can not make that meeting, two more opportunities will be available:

 

Unit 505: September 9, 2019 @ 6pm. 4700 Medford Drive, Annandale VA 22003 (Annandale HS)

Unit 1742: September 16, 2019 @ 6pm. 14601 Lee Road, Chantilly VA 20151 (Criminal Justice Academy)

 

We are now moving away from the Boy Scouts of America Explorer program and joining the Public Safety Cadet program. See below for more details.

The Public Safety Cadets is a new, national non-profit organization founded and managed by active and retired law enforcement officers and business leaders dedicated to preparing young adults, ages 14-21, for careers and leadership in the public safety profession. 
 
Although formed with a law enforcement-centric career focus, there is a view for future development of other public safety career sectors to include Fire-Rescue, Emergency Medical Services, Corrections, Cyber and Forensic Sciences as well as Critical Incident Management.

  • Youth Safety Training program for all participants
  • Academic credits for community service
  • Building a recruitment pipeline and pathway for employment

  • Liability Insurance for participants and sponsoring agencies (separate, one-time event liability coverage will be available)
  • Local input and full transparency
  • State and Regional Associations encouraged (state association presidents will be ex-officio members of the national committee)
  • Advisory Board of distinguished law enforcement and public safety professionals
